Introduction to Runic Transcription

Introduction to Runic Transcription
Runic Transcription uses Magnus Runes, which is a phonemic orthography, or true alphabet, which aligns with spoken sounds.

Runes are a phonetic representation of spoken communication. Rather than representing language with an alphabet that letters form words that hold meaning, Runic Transcription generates written characters associated with the sounds of speech production.

Magnus Runes are the official runic characters used by World Templar for internal communications between Agents. These characters are a basic phonetic system that has no relationship with uses of divination and magick. Just because a some alphabetical or numerical characters may be used for magical purposes does not mean that all uses of the alphabet and numbers are magical uses.
Runic Transcription can be written even though the meaning is not understood because it associates the sounds with characters. Once written, Runic Transcriptions can be spoken even though the meaning may not be understood.

The purpose of this section is to provide a basic introduction to the phonetic transcription aspects of the Runes.

Runic Transcription processes illustrate the powerful point that, just because man can speak, write and read, there can be a profound gap between what he thinks he is communicating (or understands) verses the concepts that surround him.

The runic characters presented are from the modern Magnus Runes which find their origin from the Younger Futhark. Specifically, they are related to the Medieval runes (12th to 15th c.). In the Middle Ages, the Younger Futhark in Scandinavia was expanded and made upgrades like putting dots to indicate voicing. These were predominant in Scania at the time and more related to the Danish language than Swedish. The rules have been extended and he has expanded their 27 runes into 33 and cleaned up the inconsistencies and errors.

Templar Professionalism

Templar Professionalism
World Templar recognizes those who have characterized professionalism in their lives and careers. The recognized level or rank of Specialist directly relates to the concept of professionalism. Professionalism should not be confused with the status of being a professional by the default value of being paid for what you do. Being a “professional” at your job does not guarantee “professionalism” in your character.

World Templar identifies five (5) salient features of professionalism:
  1. You have established knowledge in a particular field or specialty
  2. You have developed specific skills related to that knowledge
  3. What you do is for the betterment of mankind
  4. You keep up with technology and the state-of-the-art
  5. You maintain an altruistic (selfless) concern for those you serve
1. The Establishment of Knowledge in a particular Field or Specialty
In order to approach higher level skills and service, one must increase their knowledge and experience in the area that they show interest. This knowledge traditionally comes from education and certification processes, but it is not required to. Processes that grant degrees or certification are typically products of the institutions and do not necessarily cover all beneficial topics or subjects in their curriculum. Graduates are a product of the institution and have been taught what their professors feel they should know, or should not know. Formal education should always be viewed as valuable, but not complete. One can obtain equal or greater knowledge outside of the formal education process depending on the motivation and initiation of the person themselves. A Templar Specialist is characterized by their ongoing interest to gain more knowledge and experience.
2. The Development of Specific Skills related to that Knowledge
In order to perform you need to develop not only the knowledge, but you need to ensure the ability to master techniques, sequences, coordination, and consistency to achieve the desired outcomes. Some people are smart, but not skilled. Professionalism requires that individuals display a balance of knowledge and skill in their particular area of specialty. A Templar Specialist is characterized by their hard work to continually master techniques to improve outcomes.
3. What You Do is for the Betterment of Mankind
World Templar recognizes the importance of looking past the self and applying your knowledge and skills to a broader population. Not only do you offer your self to the betterment of mankind, but it is also important the mankind can benefit from the service you provide. Being skilled at trimming your toenails does not go far unless you develop beneficial services to those who need assistance with it as well. Professionalism is not oriented to what you can do in for yourself in isolation, but rather what you can do for others around you. A Templar Specialist values service to humanity and is characterized by their ongoing interest in mankind.
4. You Keep Up with Technology and the State-of-the-Art
World Templar understands that part of professionalism is that you keep up with what’s new in your area of specialty and implement techniques and or instrumentation that is obviously better for those you serve. Old school techniques may always play an important role, we just don’t want to be dependent on them, or resistant to new techniques or equipment. A Templar Specialist understands the value of good business, good equipment, and shows an ongoing interest in what is new. Not only are they interested in what is new, but they often have an interest to develop or create inventions or techniques themselves.
5. You Maintain an Altruistic (selfless) Concern for Those you Serve
When it comes right down to a conflict as to whether you should help someone in need, or go goof off, you should always value caring for others. This does not mean you give up your life. But, for example, if there was a mistake in scheduling and someone is outside your door waiting to see you, you should favor service to that person (who did their part) rather than ignoring their need to go off and play around. A Templar Specialist is honest with themselves and knows when they are being selfish in a situation. In those times, the Specialist favors the needs of those they serve.

Templar Humanitarianism

Templar Humanitarianism

Humanitarianism seems to be more on the forefront these days with increasing requests to support or respond to the needs of others throughout the world. Humanitarianism is promoted as an ethic of kindness, benevolence and sympathy extended universally and impartially to others.

We rise as humanity in our response with no distinction in the face of suffering or abuse on grounds of gender, sexual orientation, culture, religion, or national origin. It is the state of reasoning that transcends all basis of difference between humans. Humanity respectfully sets aside conflicts that we have created that relate to politics, religion, or culture. Sitting in the face of suffering seems to be one of the few times that we allow our reasoning to processes at a higher level toward divine concepts and understanding. Ironically, it is this connective understanding that is immediate and does not require lengthy periods of contemplation or reasoning – we simply know in our hearts and our minds what we should do. It is often only through these moments of crisis that people can relate to the Open Mind and Open Heart of a Templar.

So, what is World Templar doing to fulfill a humanitarian role in today’s state of need? World Templar recognizes humanitarianism as more than just a “reactive” process, and understands the “proactive” nature of humanitarian service. This means that rather than waiting for things to happen, or planning to react when things happen, World Templar promotes action at this moment to strengthen our individual abilities though an Open Mind and Heart to provide service to humanity.

By significantly changing the way we think, Templars rise to higher levels of understanding and service in the following ways:

  1. With an Open Mind we increase our knowledge, motivation, and initiation toward better skills and pay grades – this allows a greater opportunity for financial contributions without threatening our stability as an individual or citizen.
  2. With an Open Heart we increase our compassionate giving of our own financial and physical resources without creating hardship for our self or family. A more successful business can donate significant amounts of product without hardship.
  3. With an Open Mind we increase our skill sets, which can serve the direct needs of others to a greater degree – this allows us to treat more people in need more efficiently and in greater numbers.
  4. With an Open Heart we are more willing to rotate our professional services though organized efforts to assist disaster areas – this means as a more skilled professional we can offer more direct skilled service to those in need, and by having a stronger, more stable, business we can afford to take a week to provide direct care to others when needed.
  5. With an Open Mind and Heart we are more influential to decision makers as we rise in ranks within our professions and government – this allows more preventative action and more stable thinking when exposed to poor, or impulsive, decision making in moments of crisis.

As a Templar, our natural focus to foster and protect an Open Mind and Heart not only serves ourselves, but it stands to spark the light within others to understand that they too, are a Templar, and can change their life and the lives of those around them. They can see their humanitarian role with a more realistic potential. Rather than just giving when they don’t have it, they can start giving before they are ever asked.

It is through direct effort to consciously open our mind to know more, and learn from other perspectives, that we invest in our self and create a stronger self to serve others. Without first establishing an internal strength — our giving comes at a great cost to our own well being and can threaten our families and our societies. A Templar understands that they must work each day to strengthen their mind and heart to rise to a greater level for humanity.
